Regional Navigator

CHILD SEX TRAFFICKING

CARE Healing Center has  joined Maryland in the fight against human trafficking. With the development of our Regional Navigator program, we now provide awareness, education, and support to those affected by human trafficking.

The Regional Navigator program was developed by the passing of the Child Sex Trafficking Screening and Services Act of 2019 – Requiring law enforcement and child welfare services to refer cases of child sex trafficking to a Regional Navigator. Each county in the state of Maryland is on its way to have at least one Regional Navigator. By doing so, victim-survivors, the community, high-risk individuals and their loved ones are provided with trauma-informed responses and resources. While the Act was developed to combat child sex trafficking (youth up to age 24), the Navigator role has expanded to assist in both sex and labor trafficking. CARE Healing Center is also able to assist those over the age of 24 through our sexual assault services.

Our Regional Navigator uses a multidisciplinary approach to services and has developed a Human Anti-Trafficking Response Team (HART). The HART meets approximately once per month, or as needed, to discuss current cases and important updates with agency partners. By collaborating with these partners, the county can ensure that wraparound and trauma-informed services are being provided to those we serve. If you have any questions regarding our human trafficking services, are looking for ways to get involved, are interested in a training, or looking for resources, please contact our office at (410) 857-0900 to speak with our Regional Navigator. If you are in need of immediate assistance or looking to report suspicions of human trafficking in Carroll County, please call our 24-hour helpline at (410) 857-7322.
